With so
much craziness and uncertainly happening in the world today, asking the
question, "Why fear?" probably sounds a bit silly. I watch the daily
news and some people haven't received one penny of supplemental help since the
outbreak of Covid 19 months ago. Food is scare, rent is in arrears, bills can't
be paid and the vicious cycle goes on and on. Some don't have much needed
health insurance which is another cause for worry and concern.
Fear of the unknown is
like walking a tightrope blindfolded without a net.
Through
it all, if you are a child of God, you need to remember to keep your focus on
Him no matter what. He alone knows how to make a way out of no way. He alone
can speak and command a world into existence out of nothing. He alone is the
only One you can place your complete confidence. He has promised never to leave
you nor forsake you and He has never broken a promise. He is your Father and He
loves you, He cares for you and He adores you. He only wants His best for you.
So, while
we wait, let's exercise to the tune of faith, prayer and praise. You can't
praise Him and be depressed simultaneously. Choose praise for His blessings
that are coming in His perfect timing.
Just like
God delivered Israel from Egypt unto Himself, He is still in the miracle
working business. If you recall, Israel numbered in the millions and they were
traveling in the wilderness with no stored food supplies nor water. But each
day God provided. Following is a visual guesstimate submitted by several online sources as
to what it possibly took on a daily basis:
You yourselves have seen
what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and
brought you to myself.' Exo 19:4 ESV
The
40-year wilderness wandering by Moses and the Israelites must be one of the
biggest miracles in the Bible, yet we take it for granted. Think about the
metrics of their dire situation. We know that God rained down manna every day,
but imagine with me if they had trains:
FOOD:
God’s people had to be fed daily. Feeding 3 to 3 1/2 million people and large
flocks and herds of animals would require a lot of food. According to the
quartermaster general in the army, it is reported that Moses would have to have
1,500 tons of food each day. It would take two freight trains, each a mile
long, to feed that many people – every day!
COOKING:
They would also need firewood to cook the food. This would take 4,000 tons of
wood and a few more freight trains, each a mile long, just for one day.
It is reported that Moses
would have to have 1,500 tons of food each day. It would take two freight
trains, each a mile long, to feed that many people – every day!
WATER: A
person’s water requirements would have been 19 liters [20 quarts approximately]
per day in 43 degrees Centigrade or 108 degrees Fahrenheit. Therefore, it is
thought that the Israelites would have needed up to 11,000,000 gallons of water
each day just to drink, wash themselves and clean dishes etc. This would be
equivalent of a freight train of tank cars, 1,800 miles long just to bring
water. They had no lakes, and only a few wells. How did they get that much
water in a land where water is scarce? God provided their need.
Their
clothes and shoes did not wear out. Just like God delivered and cared for the
needs of Israel in the wilderness, He will take care of you and all of His children doing this
time of dire need and scarcity.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 NIV
